Challenged by the industry’s migration to sound, Troland’s technical acumen becomes foundational to the company’s future innovations witnessed in the company’s successful migration into the sound era; its development of 3-strip dye-transfer “IB” imbibition printing; and Technicolor’s further development of IP for “mono-pack” technology that the company eventually licensed to Kodak (in 1931) that which became foundational to the development of 35mm Eastmancolor negative stock.
