Technicolor provided a comprehensive package of services, including front-end negative processing and digital dailies from Technicolor’s UK lab at Pinewood, and imaging facility in Soho; digital intermediate film outs (from a DI graded by Peter Doyle, who was recently hired by Technicolor as a supervising digital colorist); domestic and international theatrical release printing – almost 9,500 prints in total, including fifty-eight 70mm prints for IMAX engagements; digital versioning, for the “day and date” global theatrical launch, in 41 languages; digital cinema masters covering 49 territories around the world (2D & 3D); digital cinema global distribution (2D & 3D); Technicolor 3D prints; and video mastering for future home entertainment, broadcast and future releases. As the lead supplier of the films VFX, the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 marks the end of an extraordinary journey for MPC, having been an integral part of the series for the best part of a decade and privileged to work on every installment of the global franchise. MPC VFX supervisor Greg Butler and VFX producer Oliver Money led the team, delivering 325 shots for the final film in the series. MPC’s areas of work included the epic final battle between Harry and Voldemort, CG environments and fire effects in The Room of Requirements, the snake Nagini, the giant’s face replacements, stone knight and death eater armies, various wand effects and 2 Horcrux destructions effects. ***
