About the course

The Paint Prep course for visual effects provides a comprehensive 18-week overview of essential skills in Nuke and Silhouette. From basic node workflows to advanced techniques like clean plate creation, blemish removal, and marker removal, students learn to tackle various challenges in VFX preparation. The course also covers tasks such as de-aging, defocused track marker removal, seam removal, and rig/dummy removal.

With hands-on activities and guidance from industry professionals, participants gain proficiency in sequence painting, camera tracking, and 3D projections. Technicolor experts offer valuable insights and feedback throughout the program, ensuring students develop a strong foundation in VFX paint preparation.

Recommended skills

  • Basic understanding of Nuke, Silhouette & Mocha pro
  • Knowledge of creating clean plates
  • knowledge of basic rotoscope
  • Good eye on texture details and notice the parallax movements
  • Basic understanding of colour correction
  • Basic understanding of point tracks and planar tracks
  • Observation and Multitasking skills
