Spring has sprung at Technicolor Creative Studios. We are excited to look back on the awards, projects, trailers, releases, and more to drop across our studios in March. From 3 British Arrow Award wins across VFX & Animation, to being recognized with a nomination for our work on HBO’s House of the Dragon in the Special, Visual & Graphic Effects category, a Paris Fashion Week takeover and highlighting the talented women in VFX during Women’s History Month.
MPC
Kicking off with awards, MPC Liège once again received the Walloon Gold Provider label awarded by Wallimage! The MPC team also accepted the Best VFX Feature and Best VFX Shot awards for their work on Bhediya, at the VAM Summit and Awards in Mumbai. Finally, we are thrilled to share that MPC has been recognized with a BAFTA Television nomination for its work on HBO’s House of the Dragon.
Three new trailers for upcoming films dropped in March. You can step into the world of the legendary roleplaying game with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Dive into the Disney waters to see Ariel in The Little Mermaid and become “part of her world.” While mythical demons are typically considered “adorable,” Netflix’s Chupa trailer shows us a cuter side of one of Spanish folklore’s most infamous creatures: the chupacabra.
To celebrate International Women’s Day at MPC, we sat down with a handful of talent to discuss the contributions of women’s achievements throughout history. We also got to hear from some of the women at MPC India about their experiences and insights into the VFX/Animation industry.
The Mill
In March, The Mill was approached by Squarespace and Felix Brady out of Stink to showcase the variety and creativity that Squarespace is home to, while The Mill and MPC worked with Verizon to create a matrix-like world and The Mill close the month with three British Arrow Awards across VFX & Animation. Winning Gold for Samsung ‘The Spider & The Window’ (Animation: CGI), Bronze for M&S ‘Fairy & Duckie’ (Animation) and Bronze for Burberry ‘Night Creatures (VFX).
This year, Paris Fashion Week ran from February 27 through March 7, and there were a host of incredible ads delivered from The Mill. The Mill Paris has worked with Cartier, Jean Paul Gauthier, Paco Rabanne, Louboutin, and Carolina Herrera for many years. To celebrate these partnerships as well as PFW 2023, The Mill Paris highlighted three films directed by the talented Charlottes Wales. The Mill Paris has also collaborated with the Puig Group and its brand portfolio to create iconic beauty ads through the magic of VFX. In keeping with legendary fashion brands, The Mill Paris has a long-standing relationship with Chanel and Prada to create iconic films that reflect the excellence of their houses.
As part of The Mill Women’s Mentorship Program, we sat down with some of the incredible female leaders in the business for IWD 2023. Inviting you to meet Tracey Khan, the Managing Director for The Mill Chicago and Rima Mondal, the Senior Central Production Manager. We discussed The Bangalore Women’s Mentoring Program, which began in 2020, and connects female Indian talent in the advertising team with senior female colleagues from different studios across the globe.
Mikros Animation
Mikros is proud to share some exciting new trailer releases in March. The first is the official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem trailer from Seth Rogen. Second, Paramount+ reveals official trailer and key art for season 2 of RUGRATS, following the iconic babies – Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica, Susie, Phil and Lil – as they explore the world and beyond from their wildly imaginative point-of-view. Third, Netflix is dropping Season 2 of The Boss Baby: Back in the Crib with 16 new episodes. Finally, barely four months after the premiere of Season 4, DreamWorks Animation brought a new season of Dragons: Nine Realms to our screens to kick off March and start sending winter off.
