Four award wins, Emmy’s VFX nominations, and new projects in the pipeline

June 30, 2023

We’ve seen so many significant moments in the world of visual effects for our studios this month. We’re thrilled to reflect on the most recent film, tv, advertising, and games releases, VFX accolades, captivating trailers, and our unforgettable time at Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Let’s take a closer look at what our studios got up to in June.

MPC

MPC sets a new record with seven of their VFX projects making it onto the 2023 Emmy’s nominating ballot. The nominated titles include popular projects like The Boys, House of the Dragon, Prehistoric Planet, Pinocchio and Prey in the ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie’ category. Explore the two additional episodic projects nominated in the ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode’ category.

VFX Supervisor Aaron Weintraub presented The VFX of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio at FMX 2023, sharing his experience at the event and his vision for the future of the industry.

MPC is hard at work on two exciting projects that have just released their official trailers. Kraven the Hunter, set to be released on October 6th this year, and Landscape with Invisible Hand, coming to theatres in August 2023.

The Mill

The Mill had a celebratory month as they emerged victorious with 3 awards at the 2023 AICP Awards across the Automotive, Game Cinematic, and Motion Graphics & Design categories. Adding to their triumph, M.I.A’s “Popular” music video also won a Bronze award at the Art Directors Club Competition.

The excitement doesn’t end there as The Mill finds themselves shortlisted for 2 more awards at the 2023 Creative Circle Awards. Burberry’s “Night Creatures” is in the running for the ‘Best Film Craft VFX/CGI’, while M&S’s enchanting “Fairy and Duckie” has been nominated for ‘Best Digital 3D Animation – CG’.

In yet another accomplishment, the Louis Vuitton “Holiday” campaign, featuring two mesmerizing characters animated by The Mill Paris team, has been officially selected for the ‘Joys & Challenges’ category.

The Mill released over ten iconic projects in June. From Dominik Fike’s new music video to Charlotte Tillbury’s new muse Bella Hadid, and six colossal global 3D billboards supporting the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Their impressive client lineup includes Volvo, Lacoste, Burger King, Louboutin, and NASCAR, all of whom showcased exceptional creativity on the screens.
