We’re lifting the lid on what it’s like to work Inside Technicolor. Kranti Sarma talks about the role that diversity, equality and inclusiveness plays at Technicolor Group.
Hi Kranti, talk us through your role at Technicolor Group
As Senior Vice President, Creative Production and Operations, mine is a multi-faceted role to provide local leadership and sponsorship for each of our clients’ projects, ensuring overall success. This includes stakeholder management internally and externally, ranging from engaging with clients to strengthening relationships at the studio level.
Through collaboration with global and local leadership, it’s a critical role in terms of creating and providing clear direction for the studio. The essence of my job is to facilitate the delivery of vibrant, quality content and VFX as well as animation, ensuring that our clients receive the world-class services, which we at Technicolor are proud of.
Describe the role that diversity, equality and inclusiveness play in the organisations’ current position
DEI is an integral tenet of the Technicolor Group entity, and we truly are an organisation which makes room for everyone. For example, the Technicolor Academy runs women-only batches to ensure that we have maximum impact in training women as VFX and Animation artists. To promote equality and inclusion at an organization level, we run several multi-pronged engagement programs. With the support and commitment of the leadership team towards DEI, we have managed to set and attain meaningful impact in many of our key goals. In addition to providing various platforms to embrace and promote diversity, equality, and inclusivity, our organization is an extremely supportive one to our exceptionally talented crew.
Talk us through your day
My day begins in the studio at 9 AM. I begin the day with a series of management and show catch ups, after which I am mostly on the floor with our crew to get to know them better and to connect with them. While we are in the business of VFX, it’s the artists who bring the ideas to life. In my role as a leader, I enjoy getting to know each team member and understanding their concerns, as well as creating an environment to support and encourage them in their endeavours. Most of my day is spent working across all the departments and ensuring that we continue to do what we do best- delivering the best shot.
What are your predictions for the world of VFX in 5 years?
This is an industry that’s experiencing growth, and this trend will continue in that vein. The demand for OTT and general content is growing at such an accelerated pace that we are now unstoppable. The VFX industry is poised to reach new heights, thanks to the innovations at the intersection of creativity and technology. Our artists will continue to learn, innovate, and grow, resulting in the delivery of iconic and brave content.
