Q: Can you tell us about yourself and how you started your career in Advertising/VFX?
A: I studied Visual Effects for film and television at Bolton University then moved to London and started as a runner / roto artist at Double Negative before jumping over to The Mill where I’ve been for the last 8 years!
Q: How did you first become involved in the Mercedes, League of Legends project?
A: Whilst working on a different project I heard about a Mercedes / League of Legends collaboration and instantly said “that’s mine!” I was talking about the project to anyone who would listen for 3 months before I started working on the job…
Q: What is your favourite part of the project as a whole?
A: There was a moment during previs where we first got an edit together on the TV and I remember thinking “this is going to be such a fun project”. We had such a dream team of people who really wanted to keep pushing and constantly asking “how can we make this even better?”.
Q: If you could sum up your experience working on the project in three words, what would they be?
A: Another one, please.
Q: What’s your favourite advert of all time and why?
A: SSE – ‘Maya’ came out early on in my advertising career and I was blown away by how good the fully CG orangutan looked. It really made me fall in love with projects involving big budget 3D!
Q: Can you tell us about another project that you’ve worked on that you found challenging, yet rewarding, and why?
A: Four years ago, I worked on the music video for The Chemical Brothers – Free Yourself. It was an incredible amount of work but some of my most enjoyable career memories are from working with the team on that project. The group chat we made during it is still active today!
