Paris, France Technicolor Group, a pioneer in the cinematic world, proudly celebrates over a century of transforming the film industry through groundbreaking advancements in colour technology. Founded on December 18, 1915, by Herbert Kalmus, Daniel Frost Comstock, and W. Burton Wescott, Technicolor has become synonymous with vibrant and immersive visual storytelling.

A Legacy of Innovation

The journey of Technicolor began with the shared vision of three innovators: physicist Herbert Kalmus, engineer Daniel Comstock, and businessman W. Burton Wescott. United by their passion for innovation, they set out to develop a technology that would revolutionize the way audiences experience movies. The name “Technicolor” was inspired by their alma mater, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), emphasizing the technological roots of their ambitious endeavour.

As Technicolor Group prepares to celebrate its 110th anniversary next year, we are proud to set the stage for a celebration that honours our rich history and looks forward to an innovative future. For over a century, Technicolor has been at the forefront of creative solutions and world-class visual effects. Our year-long celebration campaign will highlight our technological innovations, talents, and achievements.
